Set
at the edge of the Thar desert, the imperial city of Jodhpur
echoes with tales of antiquity in the emptiness of the desert.
Once the capital of the Marwar state , it was founded in 1459
A.D. by Rao Jodha-chief of the Rathore clan of Rajputs who
claimed to be descendants of Rama - the epic hero of the
Ramayana.

the lovely lakeside capital of Mewar - The City of Dreams - is
perhaps the most romantic city in Rajasthan. Surrounded by hills
and mountains and set on the edge of three lakes - it is
bewitching in all its details. Narrow streets lined by vivid
colored stalls, gardens, temples and palaces - every feature
mirrored in the placid blue waters of lake Pichhola.

The
city has an interesting legend associated with it, according to
which, Lord Krishna-the head of the Yadav Clan, foretold Arjuna
that a remote descendent of the Yadav Clan would built his
kingdom atop the Trikuta Hill. His prophecy was fulfilled in
1156 A.D. when Rawal Jaisal, a descendent of the Yadav Clan and
a Bhatti Rajput, abandoned his fort at Lodurva and founded a new
capital - Jaisalmer, perched on the Trikuta Hill.

is a beautiful city located on the edge of Thar desert, in the
Northern Rajasthan. It is famous for the old Havelies and
world's largest Camel Research Farm. The city was founded by
Bika in 1486 AD, he was the son of Rao Jodha. It is also know as
camel country and famous for the best riding camels in the
world.
- Pushkar
If
Rajasthan is synonymous with forts and palaces, it is also
synonymous with fairs and festivals. Few things can match the
effervescence, vigor and brightness of traditional fair like the
world famous Pushkar. The picturesque lake of Pushkar is
surrounded by hills on three sides and sand dunes on the
fourth-a perfect site for the annual religious and cattle fair,
held in the month of October-November.

situated in the green oasis wrapped in the barren hills has been
a witness to an interesting past. The city was founded by Raja
Ajay Pal Chauhan in the 7th Century A.D. and continued to be a
major center of the Chauhan power till 1193 A.D. when Prithviraj
Chauhan lost it to Mohammed Ghauri.
- Shekhawati
The
area of Shekhawati covers several villages and towns in north
eastern Rajasthan, which can be approached from Bikaner, Jaipur,
and Delhi and comprises the Sikar and Jhunjhunu districts. Small
towns dot these two districts and contain within themselves some
of the most elaborate havelis, stepwells, and temples.
- Khajuraho
the
temple architecture of India, the Khajuraho complex remains
unique. One thousand years ago, under the generous and artistic
patronage of the Chandela Rajput kings of Central India, 85
temples, magnificent in form and richly carved, came up on one
site, near the village of Khajuraho.
- Varanasi

is one of the oldest living cities in the world. Many names have
been given to Varanasi, though its recently revived official
appellation is mentioned in the Mahabharata and in the Jataka
tales of Buddhism. It probably derives from the two rivers that
flank the city, the Varana to the north and the Asi to the
south.

often called paradise, is a rich green mountain region North of
Pakistan. At the time of independence of Pakistan, all Muslim
majority areas were to become part of Pakistan. Kashmir, an 80%
Muslim majority region did not become part of Pakistan.
Currently, Pakistan administers 1/3 of Kashmir, also know as "Azad
(Free) Kashmir." The rest 2/3 under Indian military
occupation.

geological terms, this is a young land, formed only a few

crust as the Indian sub-continent pushed with irresistible force
against the immovable mass of Asia.

- Goa
The
ancient Hindu land of Goa, of which hardly a fragment survives,
was built at the southernmost point of the island. Known as
Gove, Govapuri, and Gomant in the Puranas and certain
inscriptions, Goa was famous in early Hindu legend and history.
The medieval Arabian geographers knew it as Sindabur or
Sandabur, and the Portuguese as Velha Goa.
- Fatehpur
Sikri
Perched atop a rocky ridge 37 km west of
Agra, Fatehpur Sikri came into being four centuries ago when the
Emperor Akbar, not yet 28 years old, created the first planned
city in Indo-Islamic style. The city was actualised with great
energy, but was completely abandoned a little more than a decade
later. In 1568, Akbar was secure and powerful but he had no son
and heir.
- Kerala
Kerala
is the beautiful girl on earth, South west part of India,
between Western Ghats of Hills and the Arabian Sea with an area
of approximate 39,000 sq.km. It is blessed with endless beaches,
lush green forests, mountains, waterfalls, fertile land, banana,
pineapple, papaya, mango, jackfruit grows in abundance in Kerala
and palm fringed lakes and backwaters.
- Kota
The
history of Kota is linked with the history of Bundi. Both Bundi
and Kota came under the rule of the Chauhans in the 12th
century. The descendents of the Chauhans set up their capital at
Bundi and ruled from here. While Bundi was the capital, Kota
formed the land granted to the eldest son of the ruler. This
arrangement continued until 1624.
- Mandawa
Mandawa
lies in the heart of shekawati a painted arched gateway adorned
with Lord Krishna and his cows leeds to the bazzar. You can
wonder through the streets where mansions of rich merchants are
adorned with elaborate frescoes. Mandawa was built in 18th
century by some rich merchant families of this region.
